If we do they should consider going down to a 24-song final with nine qualifiers from each.I just hope we don’t have any semis with only 15 entries this year, it feels a bit too small to me.

Do they have any levers they can pull here though? The one thing I can think of is to give earlier countries a longer time slot in the recap segments but I'm not sure that would have much impact. What they need to be doing is trying to work out how to make it fairer for countries who are right at the beginning of the running order. Especially when it’s a producer decision. Poor Austria were fucked before they had even sang this year.
Yes but I can't remember when... I'm not sure those quite worked as the last thing you need at the end of song 26 is to have to sit through all of them again (and get bored and wander off) before song 1 comes back on.Didn’t they have reverse order recaps at one point?
They came second on the televote in the semi! I don't think there was anything that meant they definitely had to do worse on televote than most of what they finished ahead of in that semi.Austria weren’t going to do that well either way. You’re probably talking the difference between 15th and 12th, at most.
God so trueTo be honest with you, I just want whatever specific circumstances favour the songs I like most in a given year
Every other country who qualified from that semi beat them in the final on the televote. I’m pretty sure that the running order had something to do with that. They came second on the televote in the semi! That's very interesting, looks like my instinct above was wrong. They did the reverse recap in 2002 & 2003, which are also the two years with the best televoting results for the early performances (even a win for Turkey from #4) - it’s weird they ditched it so quickly.
I suppose if you're actually interested in voting maybe you stick around to watch the whole recap? That's very interesting, looks like my instinct above was wrong.

Managed to find this!I can’t find the graphic now, but someone broke down the Spanish viewing figures in 2022 by minute - something like 3 million additional viewers saw Estonia perform last compared to the Czech Republic first (the viewing figures rose over the course of the show).
Lebanon?Got my first normie knowingly chortling "well we know who's winning Eurovision next year now don't we!!" today![]()
Just because they are broadcasting does not mean they are competing. However we will know very soon.Czech TV have confirmed they’ll broadcast the shows and will announce participation next week (presumably when the full list is out) - I can’t see that they’d broadcast and not participate so I’d take that as another confirmation!

I think Israel might be out.
On what basis?I think Israel might be out.
I’d be surprised if Israel pull out. At the risk of sounding cold, they seem like they understand the value of soft politics. I imagine the most likely thing is that they internally select a big-ish name and pair them with a tearful but carefully non-specific ballad about peace.
At the same time, the broadcaster confirmed that the selection process will be once again a national final, ESCZ 2024, but with a new feature. Starting from this year, the lead singer / main vocalist of the composition is not required to hold a Czech citizenship. This means that artists from Slovakia permanently living in Czech Republic and contributing to its music scene can also apply. Participants can submit their entries, including demo versions, starting from today until November 6.
Speculation that this essentially for ADONXS, a Slovak singer living in Prague who is one of the most popular acts in Czechia/Slovakia atm (and also one of the few high profile openly gay ones)Slight change to their entry criteria.
