Fruit and Vegetables

My favourite fruit is not a very common one, and now it's hard to find good ones, but when it's good I could die. The translator says it's called custard apple for you.

Spinach is much better when it’s raw, I don’t appreciate it when it shrivels :(

In Cambodia we got lychee, dragonfruit (the pink and the white) and the tiny little asian bananas every morning for four weeks and it was divine.

Edit: dragonfruit, not grapefruit :manson:

Dragonfruit is amazing, particularly the pink one. I have no idea why it has never been pushed over here.

Another parsnip lover here, but Mr Sheena hates them. He hates most food things I love though, which is annoying, but as I’ve given up meat, I can’t really complain...

I parboil carrots and then glaze them in balsamic vinegar.
Yeah, I don't just want a bare carrot. Tossed with honey and spices before being roasted, they are amazing.

I detest honey, so don’t any fucker tell me to start spunking that shit all over my veg

We’ve upgraded green beans recently and are roasting them tossed with olive oil and garlic and topped with Parmesan. Obsessed!

What kinds of berries and fruit do people put on their porridge?

I do some sort of blackberry/pomegranate/strawberry/raspberry with honey combo but I'd like to expand.

Berry wise, it’s usually Raspberries and blueberries for me in the morning, but I have a sprinkle of muesli and a dollop of Alpro plain, no sugar yogurt rather than porridge

This thread also was prompted by me buying a “ready to eat” pack of four nectarines for £3 from Waitrose and them all being hard like apples.

fuming.
At least with nectarines you've got a slightly better chance of them being ripe at some point. I swear that ready to eat pears are carefully designed to be edible for about twenty minutes between three and five days after being bought.

I have a packet of pears that are marked as best before tomorrow and they’re still not even ripe.

THREE QUID FOR SOMETHING YOU CAN’T EAT YET!

I noticed Tesco have gotten rid of dates on a lot of veg items...which I found very REPLEASING.

I always get pears and nectarines with the best intentions to wait until they're perfectly soft but eat them all hard anyway within about a day. :(

I can take or leave a pair but FUCK OFF whoever thought a “poached pear” is an acceptable dessert.

Ah I know this one! You get it in the Indian shops here when it's in season.

I remember in Thailand being SO excited at all three new types of fruit to try :disco:

Oh I love this thread!

I was one of those kids who refused all vegetables, most fruits, meat etc etc and it’s only as an adult that I’ve come to like and appreciate most vegetables and it’s only in the last couple of years that I’ve started to properly love and crave some fruits (especially like now during the summer)

What’s everyone’s favourite vegetable?! I think mine is BROCCOLI.
AUBERGINE! It's funny because I've always HATED aubergine and even have a vivid memory of my dad hitting me on the back on my head because I putting some in my mouth and then spitting it out as an act of protest.

I think I finally made peace with aubergine about 5 years ago and now I can't get enough of the stuff.

Aubergines, which are pretty much staple food in Iraq, I only got to taste and like a couple of months ago.
