Fuck she's dead Friday

I'm back at the same school, I was yesterday and then again next week.

For the record, I really enjoyed it. The kids seemed lovely, except year 9, but they're always awful.

I worked 15 hours yesterday and HAVE to go the office today, but I actually can’t move.

Wonder which other deaths will be ‘forgotten’ during this time.

I’ve definitely fallen foul of this before, but I can’t remember who it was :basil:

We had a group of 8 year olds in the shop yesterday, and we will have more in every week for 4 weeks. They're very polite and inquisitive. But they do talk a lot.

1 hour was enough. I don't know how parents or teachers do it.

I've got a funeral today. Probably why I'm barely registering that other death.
On this note, the person concerned (a friend's mum) died TWENTY SIX days ago, and this is the earliest date they could get. Is that how long these things take now?

I bet her Maj won't have to wait so long

Ive just learnt to ignore them 🤷‍♀️

My friends dad died 3 weeks ago and the funeral isn't until the end of September. I'm sure things used to be quicker.

My Dad died in 2005 and his took just under a fortnight, and he needed a post mortem. When Mr L's mother died 4 years ago, it was just under three weeks and that felt interminable. It's not like anyone presses a switch and you move on, but now can you even start before the funeral? All you're focused on until then is the bloody funeral!

I wonder if that's because it's a burial? We are always cremated and I can't think of funerals taking that long from people who have passed recently, they seem to easily be done within a week.

No, she's being cremated. And the very simplest funeral service, all at the crematorium, no church business before like my family do.

The last funeral I went to was for someone of the Jewish faith and they died quite suddenly. The funeral was the next DAY, and although I didn't know the person hugely well it really felt strange to be processing it so quickly. Quick funerals are the norm in Judaism but I couldn't quite believe how quickly they turned this around.

I think I'm going to have to iron my white shirt, unless I can get away with the very palest pink one.

Yes, I'm aware other faiths do it a lot quicker - and a day feels like a headfuck, particularly if it was a sudden death. I feel sure that the norm was about 7 - 10 days years ago, and that sort of feels about right to me?

I just went out and the world seems entirely normal.

I'm slightly disappointed to be honest. Apart from a translator messaging me this morning to say "Sorry for your loss" and me taking about 10 seconds to work out what he meant, everything is just a bit MEH.

What were you hoping for, everyone in black, weeping, wailing and throwing themselves in front of traffic?

But in seriousness, I thought the people in the Co-Op might have a BLACK RIBBON on or something

Same, it's usually the next day or the day after that for us, unless there is a post mortem involved.
In other news, I had a nightmare that an insane earthquake struck, dreams are supposed to not happen when you share it right? So there's that, shared, good morning!

We're replacing it colourful window display of boxes with black ones in the shop :disco:

I told you. MEMORIAL FUDGE. You need to get some stickers printed and whack them on everything and watch it fly :disco:

Bugger, why do I always forget how to tie a Windsor ( :( etc) knot and have to Google it every time?
