Inner Smile
Honest and real
Friday 9th September 2022 is going to be a big day
Yeah same.I thought it would be more exciting than it is.
I'm finding the whole thing exhilarating actually
Who?

On this note, the person concerned (a friend's mum) died TWENTY SIX days ago, and this is the earliest date they could get. Is that how long these things take now?I've got a funeral today. Probably why I'm barely registering that other death.

Ive just learnt to ignore themWe had a group of 8 year olds in the shop yesterday, and we will have more in every week for 4 weeks. They're very polite and inquisitive. But they do talk a lot.
1 hour was enough. I don't know how parents or teachers do it.
My friends dad died 3 weeks ago and the funeral isn't until the end of September. I'm sure things used to be quicker. On this note, the person concerned (a friend's mum) died TWENTY SIX days ago, and this is the earliest date they could get. Is that how long these things take now?

No, she's being cremated. And the very simplest funeral service, all at the crematorium, no church business before like my family do.I wonder if that's because it's a burial? We are always cremated and I can't think of funerals taking that long from people who have passed recently, they seem to easily be done within a week.
Yes, I'm aware other faiths do it a lot quicker - and a day feels like a headfuck, particularly if it was a sudden death. I feel sure that the norm was about 7 - 10 days years ago, and that sort of feels about right to me?The last funeral I went to was for someone of the Jewish faith and they died quite suddenly. The funeral was the next DAY, and although I didn't know the person hugely well it really felt strange to be processing it so quickly. Quick funerals are the norm in Judaism but I couldn't quite believe how quickly they turned this around.
What were you hoping for, everyone in black, weeping, wailing and throwing themselves in front of traffic?I just went out and the world seems entirely normal.
I'm slightly disappointed to be honest. Apart from a translator messaging me this morning to say "Sorry for your loss" and me taking about 10 seconds to work out what he meant, everything is just a bit MEH.

Same, it's usually the next day or the day after that for us, unless there is a post mortem involved. The last funeral I went to was for someone of the Jewish faith and they died quite suddenly.
