Kylie - Padam Padam (1st single, May 18th)

This really is beyond belief. #25 on Spotify is massive, plus now top ten on the next two biggest platforms.

She has a shot this week still with these midweeks missing Tuesday streams, plus the cassettes if dispatched tomorrow. But even if not, if it holds like this on streaming the she may well be a shoe in next week. It really isn’t slowing down at all yet, which is :disco:

I mean I guess people aren’t forced to - it’s just many people consume by putting on a playlist and the higher up, the more likely they’ll listen long enough to hit your song. To be fair to them, they do add songs that are genuinely taking off and popular in their own right (see Pink and Zara Larsson, who they did add to the big ones as soon as they hit the official top 40). Heck they added Kylie after week one so they certainly aren’t as ageist as say Radio One. But it still sucks that unless you get significant momentum outside of being playlisted, certain artists face a huge uphill battle to achieve it.

They are meant to go out today and be counted. Given she’s made up half the gap without them bodes well if they are dispatched today I’d assume she will have managed at least 1k or so given Kylie fans, so if streaming has held today (which it has on Apple and Amazon) then it may just do it.
 
Didn't someone say the cassette run was 2k? Plus whatever they've flogged in the second round since they found some more down the back of a sofa?

Which could put her as high as #7...

It probably helps that Spotify has been forcing it down my throat every time I play anything on random, but it has really grown on me. Easily Anne-Marie's most tolerable release since Ciao Adios for me.

Having worked in HMV during the dying years of the CD single, I remember them all. USB singles were another very short-lived effort. :D

They were around as early as the late 80s. I used to own a Japanese import of the Locomotion (I think) on a mini CD.
