Lady Gaga - The Chromatica Era

I wasn't sure what I was going to make of this because I'm not really big on dance music or house or whatever - but I like it a lot.

I am pleased to see the dotmusic OGs losing their wigs

Speaking of ageing queens, I hope funky listens to this album. Just for the GAG of it.

Free Woman HAS to be the next single surely? It would effortlessly glide onto UK radio Summer playlists with ease.

I would however love it to be Sine JUST FOR THE DELICIOUS MESS of it all :disco:

Plastic Doll and 911 are my initial Mary Jane Holland and ManiCure’s of this album :bruised:

Babylon is something else :D I still don’t really know what to make of it

This is the most coherent and instantaneous album she's put out in a while! I just wish the tracks were longer. Surely they could have dropped a couple?

??? the Plastic Dolls verses are a bit blah but the chorus is triggering a herpes outbreak, which pretty much means the tune is stressing my arsehole and making it sweat. i have no idea how it's not instant for you, are you heterosexual by any chance?

DONTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. PLAAYYY.. WIIITTHH.. MeeEEEHHHH. ITTTT.... JUSSSS... HURRRRRtSS... MEeeeeeeEEEEEEh!........ IM NOT (sth) WALLS!!..... IM NOT UR PLASTIC DOLL!!!!

i don't even need to know what she's saying, i am slain regardless.

Obviously here for any mixes, but i don't think any track NEEDS to be longer at all. I quite enjoy how this album PUNCHES them out, and then FUCK IT, HERE COMES ANOTHER ONE :disco:

What a POST! :disco:

Sorry I meant Replay not 911 in my post above. I vastly prefer Tamta’s tempting and tantalising version :disco:

I don't think it's just me but I'm hearing Hyper Go Go's 'High' and YES I'M GOING TO SAY IT Lulu's 'Independence' in ‘Free Woman’ and yes I am actually SHAKING AND CRYING! :disco:

On the interludes front (as mentioned just now in the other thread), the transitions from 'Chromatica I' into 'Alice' and 'Chromatica II' into '911' are FUCKING EVERYTHING and we're talking 'Forbidden Love' into 'Jump' standards here! Oh the EXCITEMENT! :disco:

I forgot to post my response last night... becuase I was too GAGGED. :o It's amazing.

I think this is the most instant album of hers for me EVER.

I think I’m ready to hand out my 10s:

09 Alice
09 Stupid Love
10 Rain On Me
07 Free Woman
07 Fun Tonight
09 911
04 Plastic Doll
10 Sour Candy
04 Enigma - The screaming brings this down
09 Replay
10 Sine From Above - I mean I’d normally hate this but it’s a :disco: for now.
07 1000 Doves
10 Babylon - Iraqis do it better :disco:

And love love love the Chromatica I, II and III interludes.

I think this might be her worst album and it's certainly her least original one. A lot of it sounds really cheap and the songs are quite similar. One ballad, or at least something softer sounding, would have been a good addition.

Seeing that amazing list of songs that influenced the album, then hearing those influences drowned in samey, stale production from 5 years ago is very frustrating. It's like making a Michelin-star meal then pouring Dolmio on top of it. Her vocals also tend to get lost in the mix, even when she's shouting them.

Rain on Me is the strongest track on there, then Replay. They blend the 90s influences with a more modern sound better than the rest.

There are a few songs that are right down there with the worst on ARTPOP. Shit like Fun Tonight and Plastic Doll is so beneath what she can do. And whoever scrapped the original version of Babylon and replaced it with that tinny saxophone synth should be fired (out of a cannon, into the sun).

05 Alice
06 Stupid Love
08 Rain on Me
03 Free Woman
02 Fun Tonight
03 911
03 Plastic Doll
04 Sour Candy
06 Enigma
08 Replay
03 Sine from Above - The DnB breakdown that arrives out of nowhere is laughable, it has nothing in common with the rest of the song at all :D It sounds like if Elton John did some random bellowing on an EDM song for a bit of cash.
03 1000 Doves
04 Babylon

Yeah, I like it a lot, but it's definitely her worst album. She doesn't do bad albums, but I hope for a major upping of her game next time. It all sounds so passionless.

Couldn’t agree more. Like when these songs got passed around to different producers did one of them just NOT KNOW what to do and just added that for the sake of it. It sounds so out of place.

Hi there, my name is Suomi and this is my testimonial.

By 11am this morning I had had enough. The police brutality in America, Donald Trump trying to delete twitter, the battle with the UK government on schools re-opening, Dominic Cummings, Matt Hancock - I could go on.

In my desperation to prevent another nervous breakdown, I decided to play Chromatica, the latest album by Lady Gaga - a singer I have never really connected with (I warmed to her during the Artpop era but I felt strongly that she never really went gay enough) However, the decision to play Chromatica, her new album, has changed my entire outlook on not only Lady Gaga, but on life itself. No longer will I surround myself with negativity when I can instead just choose to live on Chromatica, where it rains diamonds and tragedy is given a disco beat. Just when I thought the album couldn't be anymore homosexual, the next track played. I am filled with euphoria and know now that I can face anything.

To summarise, this is my favourite classical music album since Myleene's Klass' "Moving On", and I feel like personally thanking Lady Gaga for birthing this during such a difficult time.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not...

You've never listened to a Gaga album?!?!
Not a joke! I just felt like I got the GIST of what she had to offer from the singles. I hear about album tracks like Sexxx Dreams and Scheiße from time to time and I'm sure they're just lovely but I've never felt the URGE to investigate

Somebody on Popjustice wrote that these songs "got passed around from producer to producer like a bottom at an orgy" and I can't stop thinking about it. The accuracy!
