I have a lot of love for this basic ass remix, which could have been very fun-for-Radio1 in 2009.



La Primavera is the best of the non-English Sash! hits, but I'm not sure I'd always pick it over Tina Cousins or La Trec MELODRAMA

Honestly, what the hell happened to La Trec? I still think Stay is one of the best trance songs of all time and totally goes beyond what credibility the name Sash! lacks.

Edit: just reminded myself. Switched to RnB and miraculous it failed to match her only real success with dance.

Multiply had gone when Telstar went bankrupt. Positiva picked up but I think the gap was too long and assume radio and clubs weren’t bothered

It was scheduled for release in Autumn 2002 by Positiva. Telstar didn't go under til 2004. I know the sales were beginning to dwindle with the 3rd album & the Greatest Hits they released released following that with no new songs on it reached #33. But I'm surprised Telstar didn't issue his 4th album given some of the things they released with even less potiential.
 
Oops yes sorry! For some reason I thought album 4 was 2004 when it was 2002. Yeah Telstar still going so no idea why they didn’t have a pop. Unless they only signed for a 3 album deal and Positiva beat them to a better offer?
 
I'm more surprised that nobody thought a Sash! album was worth bothering with in 2002 of all years. The sharts were FULL of budget anonymous Eurotrance then - if Milk Incs and Lasgos and Langes and Paffendorfs could score top 10 hits then an actually decent Sash bloody well could have.
 
The lead single (Ganbareh) didn’t really do anything anywhere, which probably put the UK record label off…
 
You just don't get pure uncut one hit wonders like Billie Myers in the age of social media and reality TV, do you?

I did like the inevitable #28 follow-up single, as it happens. I assume she either got or returned to a day job shortly thereafter.

My friend had her album & we theorised from the lyrics of "Please Don't Shout" that she might have been a secret SMACKHEAD :o
 
What a horribly over-sung performance from K-Ci & JoJo.

I'm sure I remember one or both of them going down for some pretty nasty sex crimes. I guess whatever BBC producer programs these re-runs either didn't notice or didn't consider them famous/notorious enough to be worth skipping the episode over.
 
I was thrown by The Tamperer performing as a #3 and wondered if we'd lost another episode. I'd entirely forgotten how long it took to get to #1!

The whole thing sounds if you asked AI to come up with generic late 90s rap fodder, complete with faceless female backing vocals (provided by girl group also rans Total if I remember correctly?)

Rap obviously isn't really my genre, but I'm up to a Busta Rhymes song and he quite clearly exudes more presence and charisma in the first 5 seconds than Ma$e managed in that entire performance.
 
I know Robbie was massive at this point, but showing up to do an acoustic version of an obscure album track? Was there a shortage of bookings? Bet Lutricia NcNeal would have showed up if they'd asked.

Making us endure that while denying Solid HarmoniE a performance slot felt particularly homophobic.
 
I didn't much care for speed garage hop or whatever it was but those two 187 Lockdown singles were SPECTACULAR
