I still love them :shy: In no way do I think they were "good" in a technical sense, but honestly some of the most fun concerts I've ever been to.

Jason Donovan also really had his one year of success and then faded slowly. Although he still had a no.1 in him to go.
 
I didn’t remember that Jason song at all and no wonder. It was just so BORING.
 
1990 felt like a real watershed in music. Shit like Big Fun just seemed from a complete other era next to whatever else was on that episode. (We watched four drunk last night!)
 
Tina Turner - has my eternal respect, hasn't made I record I would want to listen to in 40-odd years (except maybe the title track of Private Dancer).
 
What a shame "Probably a Robbery" wasn't a bigger hit for Renegade Soundwave.

Guru Josh - I seem to remember Mark E Smith being offended when he discovered Guru Josh was a dentist. He should give up that music and get back to his proper job, what with the country having paid all that for his training, considered Smith who never once considered going back to HIS job as a shipping clerk...
 
I had completely memory-holed this atrocious version of Walk On The Wild Side. Thanks, my brain - this is absolute fucking shit.
 
Electribe 101 not as good as I remembered. BLM could have made a bit more effort - she clearly saw David Gedge a couple of weeks ago and thought, "hmmm, I'll look like I don't give a shit as well".

He's pretty much the same age as me there. I can't deny he's in good shape, but I can't even conceive what he was thinking of. Although I think he was always very transparent that he craved having hit singles, so I can only assume he would do anything he considered necessary to keep having them.
 
I was looking up Gloria Estefan’s awful bus accident which took place on 20th March 1990. Was expecting some kind of mention since she was still in the Top 40 at the time but I’ve just finished the one from 22nd March which was maybe recorded earlier.
 
What’s with multiple songs using that same “AH YEAH” sample? It’s from a live Run DMC record and is going to pop up again later on Itsy Witsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.

Wasn't it that one and then another WOAH! YEAH! one which was on about 50% of shitty dance songs from this period?
 
That Cliff video was truly astonishing. Considering he’d just had a SAW hit, he clearly thought it was the way forward. We were agog and commented that he’d basically made a Sinitta video.
 
And yes, Jamie J Morgan- I’d forgotten that too. He was the next big thing for a while, but not entirely sure how, as he was fucking appalling.

Of course, his more important contribution to popular music is that he’s one of the writers of Buffalo Stance, basically because a bside of the group he’d been with prior to his solo “career” was turned into the song.
 
THAT Strawberry Fields performance bumping it up to number 3 and staying there for two weeks is quite the shocker.

I had totally forgotten about that appalling AW YEAH! remix/cover of the Art Of Noise's sublime "Moments In Love". Absolute sacrilege.
 
Blue Savannah wasn't one of Erasure's best, was it? Super cheap video too...

I have no memory of this Bros single at all...can't help but laugh at Luke Goss sat with an absolutely huge drum kit miming a very obviously programmed part.
 
Love Shack is still fun. For some reason I though it was later than 1990, more like 92/93. I have no idea why.
 
I still have a weird soft spot for The Mission. I think it's because they were so utterly out-of-sync with "the times" and didn't give a tinker's damn. Their bombast has just enough camp in it to land in a different way.

Mr L made pretty much the same comment. Well, not the 'soft spot' part - just that they look no less ridiculous or sound no more dated now than they did at the time.
