Errol Brown did have quite the voice, although it was wavering a bit with age by this time. It wasn't the most versatile of instruments but he knew what he could do with it. Was "You Sexy Thing" in an advert or something?

The actually-good to interesting to plain-terrible ratio of these episodes is not so good. Connor Reeves? I had completely forgotten about him and he was on about 6 weeks ago.
 
Fewer bands popularity vexes me quite like Metallica. Confrontationally mediocre and with a genuinely shite drummer, they've been repeating themselves since the late 80s but they fill stadiums. I guess there's a certain "huh?" to having Marianne Faithful on backing vocals but it doesn't actually work musically.
 
I know I'm out the boat but I never liked "Never Ever". It's not bad or anything dramatic like that but it's just a functional pop record of its era.
 
Mark Lamarr isn't as funny as I remembered. A lot of 90s humour feels like sneering sarcasm now. He's still more interesting than the songs tho'.

At least the Teletubbies is catchy. It's no more and no less cynical than half the other stuff in the charts in late 97.
 
Oh, that second All Saints perf was clearly filmed at the same time as the first, they've just had a change of clobber. I preferred their suits and they're no better at the choreography.

They never were. Part of their appeal I think.
 
I'd definitely say part of their appeal was that they never looked like they were trying too hard.
 
The death count on Perfect Day is lower than I would have guessed. Raising money for Children In Need by singing Lou Reed's song about heroin. Well, one of Lou Reed's songs about heroin.

By this time, the slender crossover between the electronic music that I was listening to and what was in the clubs was barely enough to justify a Venn Diagram. But I'm surprised I don't remember this Todd Terry record at all - he was already an absolute legend by this time. Maybe it's because it had vocals.
 
That'll do. I'm having "feelings" about the general condition of my life around this time. Jo Whiley introducing the Teletubbies will have to wait.

Me neither. I could never get past the whole non-chalance of All Saints at this time. Combine that with the weird transatlantic accents in the terrible spoken intro; “A to Zee” AND “A to Zed” WHY? And the multiple grammatical errors in the lyric.

Why do they need to “know” and “find” questions rather than ANSWERS?
 
A little tidbit is that GALA had never heard the Motiv8 remix until last year I suggested she perform that version at Hoopla. She requested the link. She was not keen on it. Poor GALA.
