Oscars 2020: Who's in the race?

so the Academy tweeted a predictions scorecard which seems to contain what very well might be the actual winners already filled-in :D

What the hell? :D

i love aubrey. she did an opening for one of the other awards shows this season which was quite fun too.

Is no one watching live?

watching For Sama before the awards show really put a damper on my evening.

When’s best supporting actress? If Laura Dern doesn’t win it’ll be the worse thing to happen to the gay community since Phillip Schofield.

Parasite for best screenplay wasn’t expected no? Surely that indicates it’s got best picture in the bag?

it won the screen writers guild so it was expected. Same for Jojo Rabbit.

What a great night for Parasite. Renée was terrible and so was Joaquin but at least he had a point of view. She was just rambling.

I think Renee got so flustered and desperate to top Joaquin’s speech that started saying whatever crap came to her head. I’ve no idea what she was on about.

Also, I’m now planning to watch Parasite on Tuesday to see what the fuss is all about.

Omg PARASITE <3

I had an inkling that it could possibly take best picture, but didn’t think it actually would. So well deserved, best Best Picture winner in living memory.

So erm...

It was an OK show, but the complete lack of surprises - bar Parasite, which was LOVELY - rendered it fairly dull.

Once again Maya Rudolph (and Kristin Wiig) stole the show. Just let her host!

I thought it was one of the better telecast despite the predictability. For some reason wheeling Eminem halfway through was so baffling that it kinda kept things fresh.

Also the comedy bits mostly worked and the opening number was decent.

Dern is EXCRUCIATINGLY HOLLYWOOD but IN HER DEFENSE has eaten A LOT OF SHIT in her career and appeared in great films that NO ONE has watched and given LIFETIME PERFORMANCES in films I love that have gone TOTALLY UNDER THE RADAR so she can have her moment.

She was also mesmerising in Inland Empire and considering how utterly bonkers that film is it takes a certain skill to hold it together like she did.

She should have won the Oscar for Inland Empire in all honesty.

Diane Ladd crying during her acceptance speech had me teary eyes.

I hate it when people get "recognition" Oscars, rather than for the performance. I fail to see at all what she did which was nomination, let alone win, worthy for Marriage Story. She was good, but not at all spectacular.

It’s more than a recognition Oscar, she won every other award leading up. Acting categories were weak this year and she’s just loved.

It SHOULD'VE BEEN J.Lo, obviously, but in a weak field of nominees I'll 100% take a win for Laura. She was a big standout in the film I thought, although obviously she's given better performances elsewhere.

I just think all the stars aligned for her really. Big Little Lies raised her profile, she's truly beloved in the industry and it was a fun, relatively meaty role that she did a lot with.

I like to think the voters were really giving Renée her award for Anne Montgomery.

I think her acceptance speech was so bad that her career will die once again.

What a terrible song, also Edina always looks like someone is threatening her life. The idea of bringing other Elsa’s was nice if only to help cover for her shaky vocals.

I liked Cynthia Erivo's performance.

Of the other three songs, Elton's was fine I guess. The one from Toy Story 4 was a lazy croak fest and as nice as it is that Crissy Metz got to sing at the Oscars, the Dianne Warren ballad was deathly dull.

Diane Warren not winning an Oscar after 11 nominations must be a record in that field. I don't think what happened with Gaga is going to help her to ever win one.

She’s been shit for decades in fairness. I can’t remember the last decent thing she had a hand in. She just racks up the noms because of her legacy.
