well this was a slog to watch. pretty happy with the winners but i can't say there were any memorable moments. the speeches were forgettable (of the ones that weren't phoenix overdid his and zellweger was trying to create a moment as desperately as she was failing to). i didn't care for any of the fashion. far too many standing ovations and gushing. based on the clips i can't believe pugh and ronan were nominated. what else?

ah yes, the music. positively dire. the oscars have always been rubbish when it comes to music but the songs this year were actively awful. wheeling out billy porter for the 75th time these last couple of seasons, the frozen screamathon and the rubbish eminem appearance did not help. just ghastly. billie eilish's stank face in the audience was pretty annoying as well. and then yesterday? barf.

also, i haven't heard the joker score yet but i find it hard to believe it's better than 1917.

oh, i liked the clips for the acting categories. they were cool and showed off the actors/movies well.

maya rudolph and kristen wiig were the funniest but i also enjoyed rebel wilson and corden (who i normally detest).

Aubrey Plaza's intro at the Independent Spirit Awards was a lot of fun.
