Tea or Coffee?

Leading on from the vices thread, which is your drink of choice?

Lol

Is M&S Gold nice then? How does it compare to the regular Yorkshire tea?
It’s very similar, but I just prefer it. I do think everyone who hails Yorkshire Tea as some kind of undisputed superior product should at least try M&S first.

2.5?

Either piss or get off the pot
I put 2.5 because I drink it from a pint mug with 5 sugars so 2.5 sugars is what I would have in a normal-sized mug.

I think you and I have a different meaning for "either piss or get off the pot". I mostly use it when a car is in the outside lane of the dual-carriageway but they are doing 5mph less than the speed limit and not actually overtaking anybody so it means either speed up or get into the inside lane with the slow car people so I can get on my way. How do you mean it?

Are you in a hard water area, @floppet? I dread to think of the state of your mugs if you are.

Ours is hard, and Mr L takes his tea strong, and I'm a slave to scrubbing mugs with a bicarb paste.

Our water is lovely and soft and very delicious. I can say this after spending 12 years in Hertfordshire where I had to sift the water through a tea-strainer when pouring into the cup to get the chunks of lime from the Chiltern Hills out. In those days I used to use Kilrock descaler to clean my cup out, no scrubbing is required but a good wash afterwards is.

For black tea I prefer Ceylon tea (brands-wise, Lipton or Twinings, Tetley's fine) and 1 or no sugars. If I have some kind of herbal tea, sometimes I add honey if it's not naturally sweet.🫖☕🍵
Oh and (not usually with the herbal teas, but I'll drink it 😅) oat milk too.

I've been drinking tea since I was a child and still religiously drink it but ultimately coffee is where my heart lies.

I drink tea out of habit but I drink coffee because I adore the taste.

Same. I meant either go up to 3 sugars or just stick with 2 - stop dithering.

I hadn’t factored in a giant pint mug though

That's way too much tea for me. I've found that as I've got older I appreciate a cup over a mug.

Always hated coffee which makes me disappointed in myself. Addicted to tea, I blame my mum for making me a cup every time she had one when I was little. I usually have a decaf Irish or English breakfast, I don’t find a huge difference in the brands as long as you’re not buying cheap crap. Couple of sweeteners and a dash of oat milk.

I've been trying to not reply to these threads through fear of my having my personal information scalped, but this is literally me. I make and drink tea out of boredom or the thought of "I have a meeting coming up" but occasionally I'll TREAT MYSELF to a coffee as a bit of a second thought.

Tea is white, strong, and no sugar. Coffee is black, strong, and no sugar.

I strongly dislike tea, despite (or perhaps because of) my family's love for it. The flavour just doesn't feel right in my mouth and nose.

I used to take sugar in my tea until maybe 5 years ago and now I couldn't go back. It just tastes wrong to me.

Same with coffee.

My dad always had two sugars in his tea then he suddenly stopped having sugar in it. After that he'd complain that if I stirred his tea after I'd stirred mine he could taste the sugar from mine. Was he lying or is this a thing?

Well given that you take 5(!!) teaspoons I can well imagine that to be the case

After you've been drinking unsweetened tea for a significant amount of time, sugar in it just tastes weird.

Large Iced Americano with Almond Milk for me please, all year round. If its very very cold or I just fancy it, then a Mocha.

I do like tea, in the afternoon, if i've had too much coffee. Love Yorkshire but am going to try this M&S Gold.

For me tea has to be weak and always with 2 sugars. :disco:
I also like a hot chocolate from time to time. Predictable I know.

We must have some posh posters! What is wrong with pg tips or tetley?! I'll be honest I've not even heard of some of these tea brands!

There is nothing right about PG Tips and Tetley. Tetley especially makes me gag, it's what everybody at my office drinks (except me).

I was PG Tips before I discovered the coconut chai. Just to reinforce the North/South divide...

The only tea I really enjoy is M&S Empress Grey, and that's largely because the citrus is so strong it barely tastes of tea at all.

Nothing really wrong with PG Tips at all. I don’t like Tetley English Breakfast, but tried their Mango Green Tea recently and that’s quite nice.

A great loose leaf Masala Chai is just wonderful though. But I only make it at home because heating the milk in a pan is required for it to be perfect. I occasionally get it at Indian food stalls if they’re around. So delicious.

My current pet hate is coffee chains selling “Chai Latte”. WTF is that? It shouldn’t be a thing!
