won't the Greens have a better chance in the London seats anyway? a Manchester seat might be better placed for the Greens to be seen as a party not just for liberals in the south of the country
 
There are winnable seats for them in Manchester, but I don’t think parachuting him into one of them would be a terribly good look. It’s a bit of a George Galloway move.
 
It wouldn’t be a total parachuting: he was born and raised in Salford.

Second of all, Margate is full of crackheads artsy ex-London types so I wouldn't imagine this result is indicative of DEEPEST, DARKEST KENT sadly.

So "hateful posts" and "extremism" is showing support for people who are fighting against apartheid for the past 75 years and a genocide for almost 3 years? Under international law, the Palestinian people are recognised as having the right to resist foreign occupation, including through armed struggle, to achieve self-determination. This is based on principles established in UN General Assembly resolutions, such as Resolution 3707 (1973), which affirm the legitimacy of liberation struggles against colonial/foreign domination.

But I bet The Spectator has no problem whatsoever with the Labour Party being complicit in and assisting that genocide.

Are people really going to fall for this anti-Green Party drivel from a pro-Zionist outlet like The Spectator? Have we learned nothing since the "Jeremy Corbyn is an antisemite" days? Surely people aren't that thick?

It's an AWFUL RAG and the journalist is a DEMON but the Greens shouldn't be running candidates who are claiming Trump is "owned by Jews" and that Israel did 9/11.

The article has been shared by quite a lot of Labour accounts, so it's clearly a gift to those against the Greens for them to be running candidates who extol antisemitic (not simply anti-zionist) conspiracy theories.
 
I'm not pro-antisemitism in any form, but it's a cold day in hell when I take my news from The Spectator.
 
To be fair, The Greens are experiencing a similar bit of growing pain to Reform, in that they're standing a lot more candidates than they ever have before, many of them new and untested. There'll be those who have been preparing for Council for a while, and there'll be paper candidates who are much less vetted, but will still be subject to way more scrutiny than would usually be expected.

Like Reform, they'll probably end up with a few of the latter kind getting elected by accident as well due to the prevailing national mood, which can be a recipe for trouble...

Why this is problematic​

  • Uses the term “slag”, which is a derogatory insult.
  • Combines that with a regional/ethnic reference (“from the Balkans”), making it potentially xenophobic or stereotyping.
  • Implies bias in how people judge artists based on origin, framed in a dismissive way.
