How can you call time on a proposed concept? Oh I've got shops, schools, GP and other facilities within 15 minutes. What a NIGHTMARE.

It's literally how towns were built before everyone had a car. Everything you need, easily accessible for young and old. I fucking HATE that they're trying to thumb 'socialism' into the conversation as if it's a negative, as well. This isn't America, we have a nationalised health service and a benefits system - we've adopted socialist ideas for fucking decades and nobody has complained.
 
I bet if it was pushed as a right wing idea, they'd sell it as freedom of choice and improving communities.
 
This language from Braverman really took me aback by how hateful it is, even for her.

Trans women have no place in women’s wards or indeed any safe space relating to biological women.

And the health secretary is absolutely right to clarify and make it clear that biological men should not have treatments in the same wards and in the same safe spaces as biological women.

This is about protecting women’s dignity, and women’s safety and women’s privacy. And that’s why I’m incredibly supportive and I welcome the announcement today by the health secretary.

it's the politics of distraction, helping anybody is not the intention. that's all the culture wars are, white noise designed to whip up outrage.

the reassuring thing is that it's not really working. polling repeatedly shows nobody cares about this stuff, they want actual people-driven policy from their politics. the more the Tories indulge in it, the more they bury themselves. the bigger danger is if Labour take the bait and engage with it. which unfortunately they might, being full of terfs.
 
They've got fuck else. They're trying to kill the NHS so the only thing the health secretary has got to talk about is culture war bullshit. It is, of course, a measure designed to ensure that trans women don't receive medical treatment; "well, we've got nowhere to put you so you'll just have to die".

I get so amused by the right-wing hate of 15 minute cities. It's a sensible concept which makes things better for everyone's lives. There is literally nothing wrong with it.

It's like trying to whip up hate against bunnies or spatulas. Some people will find a conspiracy in anything.
