thoughts and prayers @Raining On Me. I would feel exactly the same re: not going into work. but a clever boss (what?) would obviously want you to be safe and act safely rather than being haphazardly loyal

we were told yesterday that we've had a positive case in class and should all get tested. earliest test time I could get was Friday afternoon! :shock: which means I won't know till Sunday/Monday

I don’t know. Might be different here as the north west is the worst affected in the country at the mo (although the test site was empty)

I had my test on the Sunday and still waiting now. I did hear that it could be up to a week! :( Maybe I should have booked it through work as I’m also NHS?

Thank you, he's doing okay, as well as a person coughing and spluttering ever is anyway. My boss was fine thankfully (and quite rightly as you say), we were laughing about it really. It's the unnecessary, weird guilt/embarrassment feeling that's harder to shift. Clearly though it's going to happen everywhere if it isn't already.

At least you got a test! Fingers crossed

We're south east so not so affected (or are we? :side-eye:) but yes, it was his work who promptly arranged it so might be quicker that way. I suspect you're right though, all he got was a quicker test and the times he was given for results were likely the ideal outcomes rather than reality!

I think you're missing the point. Coronavirus isn't going to be killing 40000 people forever. Annual car deaths are 2000 a year (or more) every year. So you're statistically more likely to die of a carcrash than Coronaviru

Further to that... younger people are more likely to die from cars and older people are more likely to do from Coronavirus. Last time I looked @SDF was still a massive twink.,

Well yes, Covid-19 isn’t going to be around forever. But with the statistics you’ve posted, it still means people are more likely to die from the virus than in a car crash during the length of time the virus is around for.

Other than that, I'm just giving an opinion - you can call it dangerous or whatever you want to call it and like I said if that post blows up in my face in November then so be it.

Even controlling for demographics, it's pretty clear what you are more likely to die from in 2020, which is the important thing here. If your reference period is all of history then I'll give you that cars are more deadly, but it's hardly relevent to the situation right now is it?

I just disagreed with @SDF that we all need to be 'fucking terrified' or whatever he said. And @SDF doesn't seem bothered about it at all. It's not a big deal.

How do you know coronavirus is going to go away/not kill as many people in the future? No one does at this point. The flu killed 50,000 people a couple of years back and we have vaccinations for that (albeit different strains appear different years)
 
In other news, I've seen at least three pubs on Facebook saying they're moving their weekly quizzes/bingo/whatevs to an hour earlier. And the Premier league has announced an evening match will be played earlier to get it in for 10pm.

Who would have predicted that everyone would just go out earlier?
