I’LL STEP IN

Benny Hill was a British comedian whose TV shows always ended with him making a nuisance of himself and being chased in a ludicrously sped up sequence, usually by women

Before you judge, it’s all we had in the seventies apart from power cuts and having to wipe our bottoms with newspaper

It was just one of our most successful exports to the US along with Monty Python and Americans would refer to him as being the height of British comedy LONG after he ceased to actually be relevant here.

The SKIRT and the TOTTY. Now that I get it I love it

They’re both slightly dated and comedic these days although I expect they’re still used in certain quarters SHALL WE SAY (such as where I come from originally, for example)

and where is THAT? (not to be nosey)

Believe it or not, Brentwood (which is I think where it’s set and Gemma Collins has her lovely boutique) is the POSH part. Comparatively speaking. Or, at least, where the wealth ends up. Which is no marker of class as we all know

My (uneducated) view is that Essex to London is like Orange County to LA, so that description WORKS

A look at the participants’ behaviour on episodes of UK Come Dine With Me set in Essex should give you a general idea. Filthy sense of humour, drink too much and too quickly, sex obsessed, etc. Don’t recognise any of that in myself obviously :)

I swear every state in America has an ORANGE COUNTY

*has flashbacks to the fifty day 2020 election*

Doesn't sound too bad!

I was talking about Orange County California, not the imposter Orange County Florida.

And don't worry, the election is still somehow ongoing :america:

Well I love her coat/jumpsuit/facial expression

So I am pro-Essex

I think Essex is more like our NEW JERSEY tbh. There’s wealth there but the culture is very white working class. Historically it’s where people would move to from the Eastend of London when they made it.

Or got a council house when they built the new estates

Well I don't ever want to live in New Jersey or Orange County, so I guess the only way really is Essex

@Lucille There's more to New Jersey than you're giving it credit for, but the same is probably true of Essex

Also I am offended because my father was born in New Jersey
