If you’ve got a spare place now I would never do this, just saying xOne of my friends revoked their RSVP to our wedding* because she "had" to go to her neice's 1 year birthday party...
*It got postponed because of Covid anyway but STILL

You can take the place of the other friend who RSVP'd yes, then declined, then didn't invite me to her wedding
I was just about to say April sounds fairly reasonable since the numbers are coming down quite nicely and this time with the vulnerable hopefully vaccinated by then it's not like last time when we opened the doors while the storm was still howling. We should be genuinely on the way out of it by then.
But OF COURSE, this SA variant is a vaccine escapee that will probably mean another year of Hell and no doubt there'll be "some reason why they can't just quickly alter the vaccine". Fuck me, if that's the case I genuinely just want to die, this isn't living it's just surviving.... barely.... or more like waiting to die.

I’m thankful for some of my parent friends. I remember one wrapping up a carrot for her child’s first Christmas with the reasoning of “whatever I give her she’s going to put it in her mouth and won’t remember it, so it might as well be a vegetable”![]()

Agree, it will have to become socially acceptable to allow people to die of Covid akin to how we view flu now or we will just never, ever be out of the lockdown cycle. We're all just waiting to die, in the end
I'm genuinely envisaging a scenario where we're still in lockdown cycles for the next 2 years thanks to various mutations before the government (lead by societal opinion) just goes, fuck it - people gonna die, we need to start living life again.
TOO BLOODY LATE THOUGH

Random thought: 1 year unable to do stuff (and hopefully not much more) and most of us are being driven completely bonkers
And they say prison isn't tough on criminals, it must be a walk in the park etc. No. Imagine worse than this, but for 30 years
The worst region for covid cases in England is now RUTLAND of all places. I wonder if their low infection rates last year has caught up with them.
lolIt might all go away by the summer anyway. Flu does.

. In prison all of your food is provided for you, no having to try and find a Tesco delivery slot and wait for the delivery van, or chance your arm visiting the store with the great unwashed and unmasked, unpack everything or even cook the food yourself. Every week you're handed a canteen sheet to write how many Snickers, bottles of pop, packs of tobacco, Pot Noodles, phonecards and packets of Chewits you want (you could also get meat, veg, fruit, rice, pasta, condiments and spices and cook for yourself on the wing cookers at association in the evening where you also get to play pool, cards, dominoes and table tennis but this might have stopped to prevent the spread) and a few days later it all turns up at your door in a nice bag. You've got all evening to smoke fags, sit and play your Playstation, write letters to your friends on the out, watch telly, DVDs, listen to music or read a book. If you're in your room in the evening and want something from your friend a few doors down you ring a bell on your wall next to the door and some poor sap has to come and answer it, they might not get you what you want but at least you have the amusement of knowing that they have to answer that bell. Cleaning your room takes an hour a week maximum and you don't even have to buy your own clothes, pyjamas, slippers, bedding, cleaning equipment, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush and bogroll unless you want to. You get your hair cut for free, dentist for free, doctor when you need one, often an onsite hospital wing, onsite religious worship area for all denominations. Your cellmate might be a psychopathic cannibal but what's the worst that could happen?I think you're generalising a lot here Cloud. I really doubt it's as pleasant as it sounds, but feel free to go do a murder and see how comfy it actually is :P
The smell in a male prison is unique and something you never forget.
