I mean, I'd probably guessed he was pulling his serial killer strings, but still a fucking awful cunt. Good riddance I hope.
 
Doesn't Cummings believe in maximising chaos? A big reason he supported Brexit was that the ensuing disruption was supposed to trigger some kind of social reset. This crisis must be his absolute wet dream.

So my other half is an NHS nurse and Tesco have decided with all the best intentions I'm sure to open their doors 9-10 on Sundays to all NHS staff first.

He didn't go because he slept in, but went up around 10.15. As we suspected, there were literally HUNDREDS of cars already leaving, meaning not only were the shelves partially stripped BEFORE official opening (this offer is open to all NHS staff remember which covers a fucking huge number of areas) but the knock on effect, because the public are aware of this NHS pre-shop, means at 10 everyone else piled in and stockpiled their trolleys sky high with what was left on the shelves. It's basically caused even more panic.

He left with what we needed, so not a total write off, but by all accounts it was carnage.

Lovely idea but why not close again for another hour to restock (assuming it's there...) before the filthy hordes pile in?!
 
I've seen outrageous videos online of my nearest massive Tesco and queues going around the huge car park this morning. Something needs to be done asap.

Don't allow people to drive unless they have a disabled badge. Then people can only buy what they can physically carry home or on the bus. It's certainly a solution for people in London where the buses are running regularly and currently empty at the weekends.
 
On a similar note, Dominos were giving away free pizzas the other day (great idea when many stores had even less staff than ever before of course :D) and you can imagine how that ended up...

Single nurses turning up with about TWENTY BADGES from nearby hospitals to put a lunch order in. Quite understandably the harassed Dominos man had to tell everyone to fuck off in the end and locked the door!

The selfishness extends ACROSS THE BOARD

It's just not there. The supply lines can't get in quick enough.

I went to Morrisons at 7pm on a Friday and 9am on the Saturday to pick up something i needed, but despite the store being closed for 10 hours, nothing had been restocked.

That's exactly what happened here, after a week of panic buying, these bitches are all locked in their bunkers and things went back to (sort of) normal in the supermarkets.
 
What are people’s opinions on takeaways right now? I wouldn’t mind getting one in tonight, but I am quite cautious.

This was my thoughts. Also this probably is not the time to be putting trust in to a chefs possibly questionable cleanliness.
 
What's getting me is the lack of lentils. I eat them all the time and now everyone's eating fucking lentils? Really?

But then they never have a large space dedicated to them so inevitable I suppose. It really is everything now :(:zombie:

True. The thing is, as I'm in total lockdown, I rather cook or open a can (I don't) than having food delivered to my place, just in case.

Mr S is going round to his parents, even though I have a cough, he has a cough and his father has just had an arthritis treatment that suppresses his immune system, as his mother DESPERATELY NEEDS a loaf of WHOLEMEAL BREAD and COMPOST for her HANGING BASKETS

I fucking give up

I’ve had 2 this weekend. I didnt get off with the delivery people or anything. Pretty low risk I think in the grand scheme.
 
I had one Friday. It was amazing.

I’ve drunk so much this weekend. It’s ridiculous, just cracked open a bottle of wine on the balcony...
 
My street has set up a community help group.

It's ALL FINE because Jean at number nine has had FAGS and WHISKY delivered
 
The online deliver apps here just leave it at your doorstep so I just wash my hands after emptying the bag, container etc. I'm sure there's still a small risk in that, but I need SOME EXCITEMENT

I really don’t mind the lockdown :D but I’m ABSOLUTELY FINE with my own company

If ANYTHING I’m getting fed up of friends/family/friends OF friends hassling to go to the House Party app seemingly 24/7 rn :argh:

My Mum was telling me they have now closed down the supermarket where she lives and if you want anything they must email or call the store with a list to which they will then deliver. This is a small town with a population of just under 1000, and is working fantastically well for them.
 
We've just been for a nice walk around the park. Lots of lard arses trying to jog. Bless.
 
More and more businesses shutting up shop for the foreseeable. Surely some of the ones that were struggling could be finished - HMV close tonight, John Lewis are closing...although maybe the government bailout is better for them than a similar period's trading.
 
I see most High Street chain stores are now closing. Primark, TopShop, River Island, New Look etc.

Town suddenly sounds like a more appealing prospect.
 
Weather here has been fantastic this weekend, therefore the parks were full of people when I went out for a short walk (I didn’t touch anything and didn’t get close to anyone).

I’m glad we’re not on lockdown. The more I read about this the more worried I get about the world economy.

Difficult not to. People have having to think about what is a "necessity" and what they can get by without and that will have a knock on effect. BUT people will also realise how much certain things contribute to their mental health and that these things are necessary for a different reason. A big one for that will be holidays. A lot of people regard a holiday abroad as a need and, for their general mental wellbeing, it is. So I can see things recalibrating.

But that's in the future - we need to get out of this in one piece first.
 
Agreed, but not that many will be able to afford holidays or much else if they end up unemployed. I don’t know, maybe everything will just bounce back.
