I'm still not especially worried about getting it, aside from spreading it to vulnerable people. It's still the social and economic consequences that tie my stomach in a knot.
 
I must admit I am now quite terrified and me or my kids will not be leaving the house at all now other than to get necessities, and no one will be passing the threshold.
 
I cope with bad stuff using humour. I think most people do.

I definitely underestimated this as being the new SARS or swine/bird flu but so did the vast majority of people.

I think most of us knew it was serious, but what approach do you adopt? Joking about tinned fruit, killing our spouses and the UK's chart position is just a way to deal with things in light of not being able to do much else except be miserable. Plus, you know, it's moopy. Talk of Madeleine McCann's mother "dancing on ice" is no different to "hello".

If you mean in terms of us all going out into busy places even two days ago then yes, guilty as charged. But jobs make that difficult. And frankly we've never been here before to suddenly think that we can or should shut ourselves away immediately. It's really, really hard to comprehend.

It's why the government needed to lockdown fucking AGES ago. That responsibility to life and work as we know it would then be taken away.

The government has handled this spectacularly badly. Mixed messages, changing plans, poor communication, wooly strategy. It's just been ridiculous. I understand they wanted to avoid a total lockdown early on to avoid civil unrest and not to shock the economy too much (I guess) but at this point, time is ticking and a week makes a monumental difference. I wasn't one of the big 'LOCKDOWN NOW!!' voices a few weeks ago but it is time now.

A couple of weeks ago I wasnt paying it much attention I have to admit, I went to Barcelona naively thinking there was less risk there than here. Once it all got locked down there I started taking it a lot more seriously. Ive been out 3 times since, 2 were essential (school pick up, mask on touching nothing and keeping away from everyone) and one food run.

I’m happy being at home so its no big stress for me. I’ve had a great weekend in all honesty!

A lot of people have absolute hell to pay for this "oh, it's only old people and people who are already a bit iffy, it'll be FIIIINE" horseshit. All of which was to preserve the economy.
