I had no idea the high street shops were now closed. I suppose they won’t be getting much footfall.
 
Either way, I feel incredibly stupid for having joked about the number of cases and the ”charts”. It’s ”funny” how quickly this escalated. No one could ever imagine whole countries on lockdown just a couple of weeks ago.

Officially 12 degrees but in the direct sunlight it’s WAY hotter... I was in a T-shirt earlier
 
God I need some weed to settle my nerves.

I was feeling pretty anxious this morning. No trigger, although I think the distance on Mothers Day may have been it. A walk in the park really helped. So fuck all those people judging

Absolute bliss. We are at about 10 degrees and I sat out for a bit earlier with a cup of coffee, and a big coat on. We have a bit of a breeze. :(

Yeah we had chicken from a localish diner which is amazing and they had just planned to open one even closer, so I figured £30 in the till would keep that dream alive! Then Thai from a nice little place down the road. I need restaurants to survive this shit!

I turned yesterday’s coverage off as I assumed nothing major was getting covered with the 3 stooges that were answering questions. I would suspect Boris shall be present today.

I'm giving up on rumours. And strangely after all of the panic and speculation midweek about a London lockdown, I think I've made my peace with whatever gets imposed.

I guess the mood of the general public has shifted and is probably now fully understanding of why a lockdown might be needed, compared to a few days ago.
 
Might run a book on how many suicides take place. I really don't think we're ready for this AT ALL.

Just need @Zu-Klara to come in despairing at the closure of Greggs and baked bean pasties. For balance.

I don't think I'll miss any of them. I hate shopping and actively dislike going around them. Anxiety hell (and mind numbingly boring).
 
I think it's the only way to get people to take this seriously. I mean I understand the public is scared, but it's ridiculous that they'll panic buy but not respect the guidance to distance and isolate
 
@Diddy why is this not spreading like wildfire in Japan? Any tips you could pass on would be greatly appreciated.
 
I'm really not sure panic buying is happening to the degree that's being reported. I think it's just sheer volume of people buying what they need as they're reported missing off shelves.

I also don't really blame people. Survival instinct has kicked in. People are being asked to behave rationally in irrational times.

I don't do that much but almost everything is possible, sit ups etc.

Running really isn't however so I hope that's not taken away. There are hills behind my house which no one goes up at the best of times. Maybe I can get away with that without being shot dead
 
It's so tough. You want to do what is right, but at the same time to what level? My flatmate works for a department store in central London who have yet to close, so he is heading in tomorrow as usual - which makes me very uncomfortable, as he will be on public transport etc. But then last night I did pop to a friends house last night for a couple of wines which is likely no better (we didn't touch mind, and sat somewhat a metre or two apart) - but the idea of literally not being able to see anyone starts to mess with your head.

I really do hope they just shut everything up at some point this week and start policing it - fuck it, let's do everything now as we are already half way there.

Also, I have to say, I was a little surprised by how lightly some posters were taking the situation even upto a week or so ago. I thought it was clear that this was serious. I've not been in any properly public place for weeks. But if we, as a fairly well informed forum can do that, then it's no surprise sections of the public aren't taking it seriously either.

*sigh* The trajectory in the UK is really depressing me. We are looking at higher deaths than Italy atm. That fucking cunt Bojo wouldn't have closed pubs and shit if Macron hadn't forced him to. There's a complete abjection of govt responsibility.

Yeah, I'm sure there are people being dicks and buying a year's supply of toilet roll but for the most part, it seems like it mostly just started out as a case of lots of people doing a big shop at once, even the people who usually only ever do a lot of little shops.

Then it gets reported as a mad panic, and quel surprise, people panic.
 
I admit up to about 9 days ago I was blase as fuck about it all. I think denial and a sense of "it'll never happen to me" were the main things stopping me from taking it seriously.
 
I would be interested to see what the results of the poll would be if it was created now.
