Honestly if it did turn out to be a full blown new Covid-20 with another 18 months of the same shit, either reinvent the world to allow us to support ourselves without working and somehow still have vr, or put up suicide booths.

Hopefully it's all just overblown media hype though

They've halted all flights to/from the UK but I reckon the horse is already out of the barn on this one, because the virus is already in Europe, and our airports are flying in people from Europe and all over the world every day.

Shaking and crying that European countries are quarantining the UK. As it rushes to stockpile ahead of a No Deal. Well, it's a good job the Brexiters knew what they were voting for. EAT IT (or not)!

It does give the Brexiteers the perfect smokescreen for when it all goes tits up though.

Personally, I’m looking forward to eating my neighbour’s DOG next Christmas.

So at what point can we expect panic buying to start in the supermarkets?

Christmas food shopping is hellish at the best of times.

He's going to have to quit in the new year, surely? How does he possibly survive a clusterfuck of this magnitude?
This feels extinction-level for him. He's the prime minister who cancelled Christmas and turned us into a leper colony - all the papers have turned against him and he's basically lost the entire South-East now as well.

this is my worry, what with all the rumours of a National tier 4 coming at some point, and with it being Christmas and all the talk of deadlines.. people seem to forget that the supermarkets are only ever closed for one day.

you just know that some idiots will buy seven pints of milk to TIDE THEM OVER JUST IN CASE, never use it, have to throw most of it away, meanwhile other people have to go without. Ugh.

Panic buying has already started, hasn’t it? It’s the perfect storm of memories of the first lockdown panic, Brexit, the second strain and Christmas. It’s going to be fucking hideous.

Inshallah but the Daily Mail comments section is still full of anti-French bile. The gammon is strong with those girls.

I think going from tier 3 to 2 here has lulled people into a false sense of security. When the inevitable national lockdown three happens it will be carnage.

Yeah I’ve seen quite a few ‘hopefully this will stop the french refugees (!) and illegals coming over here’ comments. :goodgrief:

I have a strangely pro-Brexit old school friend whom I am still in touch with, but she lives in and owns property in France. I think she might have dual nationality now but would love to get her comments on the situation since her family are still in the UK.

Travel to Estonia from UK is banned but one plane still arrived this morning.

Getting a bit scared now on top of the looming no deal Brexit and becoming a quarantined country. I just want to sleep, and wake up if/when it's all over.

Are masks not mandatory everywhere in the UK?

Like most of the rules they're unenforced, and everyone has an "exemption"

I haven't felt the anxiety I've felt around this, right now, since the earliest days of lockdown.

I openly admit now that I cried when I was by myself during the first few weeks of lockdown.

Yes, I'm very similar too. Back then my mind was wandering to zombie apocalypse scenes in London, I felt like I had a constant knot in my stomach and I was having very vivid dreams and broken sleep patterns. It died down about two weeks into lockdown when it felt like the "new normal" (hate that phrase!). Last night however seemed to bring it all back. It's obviously how my anxiety manifests itself.

On the surface I know "it's all fine", you just have to follow the rules and there's even a vaccine around the corner this time. But there's an eerieness I just can't shake at the moment. The Christmas rules have knocked me a bit I think. It just seems like such an extreme (and unavoidable!) measure to take and something we'll remember for the rest of our lives ("The year without Christmas") :(

There's a bit of a LAST DAYS OF POMPEII feeling in the air right now, I have to say. I don't know if it's a combination of personal situations plus the clusterfuck of Corona and Brexit and the Christmas cancellation but Sainsbury's today was CARNAGE, no one is social distancing, everyone is grabbing what they can, plenty of people with no masks, people getting tetchy with each other, shouting, pushing trolleys over other people, etc. Every person for themselves.

Yeah I'd become quite festive Friday and Saturday. Although we're Tier 2 still, the shortened Xmas and general melee around it, felt like the rug had been swept from underneath me.

Fucking with Christmas plans really hits right at the heart of the psyche of the nation and the news of the rest of the world locking down their borders from us just impacts that in just the grimmest way.

I've absolutely had enough now. The sheer stupidity of the people I share an island with has finally ground me down. How can this absolute disaster not finish Johnson? COBRA should have met last night, not this afternoon. That's how emergencies work. But no, Boris Johnson doesn't work at weekends. His head should be getting kicked down the Mall.

I’m the same when I’m not in work. I fear for what I’d be like if I didn’t have this job.
I know I’ve turned myself around when it comes to addiction and got my head sorted in that respect, but getting your life to where you want it to be is like, to use a cliché, turning a ship around. And I get depressed and anxious, because I’m lonely and my living situation is not what I want ... and all that is going to take time to sort.
I guess that’s why so many people relapse when it comes to addiction; because of the instant hit it gives you.

I had to take vacation over the Christmas/NYE (too many vacation days piled up) and I'm basically off of work for two weeks.

Not going to lie, the past four weeks of work were tiring and a lot but at least it kept me busy, in contact with other people and it didn't make me focus on the daily disaster going on in the world. I give myself 5 days until I take up learning Chinese to keep my brain occupied with the way things are going.

That famous Blitz spirit!

Hopefully, Boris, and Trump for that matter, won't be able to use Coronavirus as a cover for their horrible decisions. Of course right wing media will, but I hope they are personally embarrassed by it

Don't count on it. These Eton-cum-Oxbridge cunts don't know the concept of shame. It's bred out of them at a young age.
