Right, there's fireworks going off around here. Is that a Halloween thing as well now? Or can someone just not wait a few more days?

We had them yesterday. I mean for fecks sake, it actually falls on a weekend this year. There's no reason to start early!

What would you call something like Chanukah or Ramadan that you don't get time off for, but it still a real "holiday" for some people
Well yeah, they're religious holiday. This is neither civil nor religious. It's just a commercially themed day like Valentines or Mother Day.

I can’t be doing with it to be honest. Used to have parties every year when the kids were younger but now it is like any other day to be honest. I did used to be quite good at carving a pumpkin though. Can be quite handy with a knife.

One of the joys of living in the arse end of nowhere is no trick or treaters! It is pretty massive back home.

Same here. I don't mind Fireworks night. Fireworks are quite fun and a good excuse to wrap up and eat warming food.

I really hate all the people who have pets that moan about it. YOU KNEW IT WAS A THING BEFORE YOU CHOSE TO HAVE A PET!

I guess its just a language difference then, because I would call those holidays too

As for HALLOWEEN SONGS. Aqua- Halloween has always been an absolute CLASSIC. All those years making Halloween playlists for kids parties I found it was one of the best.

We went to see a haloween parade today which was fun for 10 minutes. They had a brass band doing halloween related songs.

One of ours will literally sit in the window and watch fireworks. The other two are slightly pissed off if they are women up. That's about it.

I am the kind of BASIC BITCH that cut my teeth with My Chemical Romance and Tim Burton movies so I like Halloween actually. I like the OOKY SPOOKY HAMMER HORROR nonsense, but I'm not really big on the 'devil horns and a jockstrap' or 'dressing up as someone from a music video' thing people do.

The one good thing is that when it's OVER we're allowed to start thinking about Christmas properly.

Come on through November, we've been expecting you :disco:
Yeah, this is one of the speedbumps on the road to Christmas. Once Halloween, stupid shit bonfire night, Strictly and I'm a Celebrity are out of the way, I know Christmas is imminent.

As a BIT OF A GOTH, I obviously love the whole SPOOKY AESTHETIC. However trick or treat can fuck off and die, and while I may enjoy seeing other people in fancy dress, I would rather drink piss than do it myself. I gothed up for my night out yesterday but that is fairly standard these days

The poppy thing started off as a lovely thought until it was hijacked by the right wing flag wavers who seem to think that the army is some sort of symbol of national pride. Fuck OFF.

I love Halloween for the costumes and the parties. The taxis not so much. I also love a good ghost story.

Trick or treating is not for me but I see why some people enjoy it.

Had an absolute fucking nightmare getting home though since it seemed THE WHOLE OF SOUTH-EAST ENGLAND was out in London and TFL were like "Night buses? What are those?"

Couldn’t care less. It wasn’t such a thing when I was growing up in Lebanon. In France as well, it wasn’t as big as it is now when I first arrived.

Have all the fun you want, JUST DON’T MAKE ME DRESS UP BECAUSE I HATE THAT.

I know a couple of people who are so INVESTED in Halloween, the kind who would turn their flats upside down for the parties they host and who would get UPSET if you turn up with just a bed sheet on. SAD!
