Tomorrow Never Came is such a beautiful daydream of a song. there's something very magical about it - it's pretty sad, really, but the way it presents that sadness is kind of matter-of-fact and that in itself is sad, like it's nothing to get upset about that she never got her tomorrow in the city on the park bench because that's just life.
it moves me.
I really love also the way this song takes its time gently building to its climax in the middle 8, with the meta lyricism of "isn't life crazy, I said, now that I'm singing with Sean?" - again, one of her most dazzling moments to date.
