Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl (12th album)

I miss the storytelling element of "folklore" and "evermore". How the world looks from a stadium dressing room isn't so interesting to me.

OH TO HAVE AN ALBUM WITH A PERFECTLY SPHERICAL SHADOW

Pitchfork's review is very balanced and fair and surprisingly not shady. love that they called out Rolling Stone for their insane review...

I wonder what Taylor's response would have been if someone hadn't already been visibly sacrificed

I got really annoyed by: "Whatever vision Martin and Shellback set out to realize here is not really serving her strengths and, intentionally or not, appears to signal a disinterest in evolution."

Why are we still perpetuating the stereotype that, as a female, she is still subjugated to male producers?

I went DIGGING and found the EIGHT songs by TAYTAY that I actually like.

I'm sure there's other non-hateful songs but these are the tracks I've listened to a fair bit over the YEARS

1. Gasoline (Haim ft Taylor Swift)
2. No Body No Crime (Taylor Swift ft Haim)
3. Cardigan
4. Delicate
5. Lavender Haze
6. Snow On The Beach
7. Style
8. Anti-Hero

If anything, the producers should have had more say this time around. It feels like a big part of the problem is that Taylor isn't being told no. How can the same team behind 1989 have fallen so far otherwise?

Or Jack Antonoff do great work with people other than Taylor

No OUT OF THE WOODS!?

:hostage:

Out Of The Woods is annoying

Funky's top 8 is decent, although I'd shift the order a little. The only omission I can think of is State Of Grace which is lovely in a very bland Imbruglia / Corrs way.

You had me at Imbruglia and lost me at Corrs

That's exactly it. She's been making trust-ebbing decisions for a while now, something disguised by the rabid fanbase, the undeniable success of the tour and format trickery. If feels like this is going to be the album where, for all its initial success, the return customers will start to diminish. Every artist has that album, very few can see it happening in real time.

1. Style
2. Cruel Summer
3. Wildest Dreams
4. Cardigan
5. Delicate
6. Blank Space
7. My Tears Ricochet
8. Anti-Hero

10. Cornelia Street

Here is a hastily compiled and probably inexhaustive list of Taylor Swift songs I like quite a lot.

GNL can stay, everyone else who left out 'this is me trying' can leave quietly.

Has any interview ever called her out on it? I guess you don’t want to piss off the world’s biggest star…

When we were recording Showgirl we didn’t want any creative energy to go to waste, so we siphoned off all the sewage from the studio toilets and reformed it into vinyls - don’t forget to pick up your “Showgirl: The Faecal Edition” and complete your collection. Tx

She's on target to sell 4m and beat Adele now apparently, so presumably she'll hold off dropping new versions now until it looks like she's at danger of falling from #1.

It’s all very sad but I wonder how much involvement she has in it. I mean I’m sure she could say no if she wanted, but if it’s being sold to her as financially and statistically great - ‘Taylor you’re making millions and breaking records’ - why wouldn’t she? That’s not saying she’s a puppet or incapable of her own thoughts, but it really does seem incredibly shortsighted otherwise that I’m not quite sure why she would other than unabashed ego, an that’s also not a great look sooo…

Taylor's made such noise about wrestling control of her career away from labels, to the point of re-recording her entire back catalogue. I can't believe she's not the driving force of any of this. She is very clearly an EVIL capitalist mastermind. She is the Jeff Bezos of song.

Her parents announced her birth in the papers with BUSINESS MERGER PUNS, she never had a chance!
