I still keep wondering if this is some kind of long term plan to just let Labour get in and have to deal with the ENTIRELY SHITE recession, post- Covid and Brexit world and basically guarantee they aren't in opposition for very long.

There is an argument that it would be expedient to be in opposition for a bit. Burn everything down, lose an election, then spend 4 years loudly hollering about Labour's failure to fix the damage they caused and watch the terminally thick UK electorate swallow it up and vote them back in.

Well, indeed. I mean, they way they torpedoed PENPEN who, let's face it, was about the only one of them with mass appeal AND seemingly without skeletons in the closet, suggests they aren't really TRYING...

Although what is delicious is that if that IS the case, the likes of OUR SU wouldn't have a FUCKING CLUE ABOUT THE PLAN :D

They have a history of this anyway. They stay in power for too long, gets to their heads and then they implode. It happened with Thatcher / Major and it happened before them as well.

The people pulling Truss' strings know that they want her in because she's shite and they already are lining up the next plan.

And yes whoever gets in after them will be their mess to clean up.

ugh.

It's sad how much control they have over the situation. Or at least think they have. I don't see there being a generation shift to Labour coming up.

So the Have I Got New For You "tribute" is incredibly mild apart from a little bit of swearing, all of which is from direct quotes. In fact, only Phil Wang's quick wit provided me with any real laughs (apart from a Merton joke which I won't spoil). The burns are so mild you wouldn't waste yr Aloe Vera on them.

Laura Kuenssberg accusing HIM of not being serious! He absolutely skewered her, shows like this and the state we're in.

I love that she had no idea how to react because technically he was saying everything he was supposed to :D

I made the mistake of watching this whole show this morning. Joe Lycett and Emily Thornberry aside, it was pointless, awful, and DULL.

It’s not in that clip but my other favourite Lycett line, after Laura asked for his take on a Rishi Sunak interview.

”Well he’s not going to be Prime Minister, is he? You might as well have interviewed Peter Andre”

I suspect he will not be invited back :basil:

Oh the vital nature of what he says will surely see him return…

The BBC were trailing “we talk to the two candidates” yesterday- why are we giving these people airtime when the competition is already decided?

Here it is:

It was an excellent booking though. The producers are canny enough to know what they were getting, and more importantly, the engagement they would get from it.

Ker-ching. He’s a comedian. They weren’t expecting anything else.

omg Truss was actually there for all this? :D
The thought of her sitting there while Lycett described her as dregs and backwash is too delicious.

But I imagine she'd probably gone by that point. She's a VERY BUSY WOMAN!
